After a fabulous 2009 debut with his critically acclaimed and double award-winning Central Saint Martins MA graduate collection, Dutch wunderkind
Michael Van Der Ham has been hot on the fashion radar. After majoring in illustration at a small fashion school in Amsterdam, he moved to London aged 21 to intern at Alexander McQueen and, while studying, with Sophia Kokosalaki. Since his much-hyped graduation, the talented newcomer has already developed a signature patchwork style, which tends to deliberately mismatch different references from various clothing pieces and fashion eras, unabashedly clashing textures, prints and colours. He describes his ideal client as: “Someone who's not afraid to wear something a little more bold.” Combining creativity with wearability and elegance, Van Der Ham creates party dresses with discernable difference.
